Detox! Really Means No Crap in a Box!

You know how nice it feels to drive your car home after getting a tune up? The oil is squeaky clean, the fluids have been topped off, windshield wipers have been changed, tire pressure is at that perfect level, and it’s been washed inside and out? Well, just like our cars need a tune up, a seasonal detox allows our bodies to become shiny and new again too.  It allows our body to reboot our metabolism, boost our immunity, clears the cobwebs from our minds, gives our skin a chance to glow, and allows us to lose weight effortlessly.

When I first decided to do my first detox I thought I was going to have to drink juice and smoothies all day.  I was afraid to give up my favorite "bliss" foods.  Instant fear I cannot do that.  I am a firm believer in "diets do not work".  The word "detox" sounded just like a diet to me. I coach women every day to love their bodies and toss diets out the window.

I stressed I would be hungry or feel deprived. I began to remember what it was like to constantly count calories, not eat any fat, and go around in circles from one diet to the next. The thought of doing that again was  just plain exhausting!

I could not have been more wrong.  A detox is simply eating whole foods in their natural state.  I still ate everything I liked.  I kept my morning coffee and evening dark chocolate.  I will never believe that torturing yourself to be thin leads to self love.  Treating yourself with kindness and respect ... that leads to self love.

The only thing I didn't eat was "crap in a box".  I prided myself on thinking I did not eat a lot of processed foods.  This detox forced me to really look at that.   I had to make some changes to my diet.  I added a lot more whole foods (fruits, vegetables, walnuts, quinoa) and spices. I never really used spices before.  What a difference.   My new obsession is chocolate protein balls and roasted cauliflower.

At the end of 10 days I can say I never once felt deprived or hungry.  I am sleeping better.  My skin is glowing.  Overall, I just feel good.  As an added bonus I lost 5lbs and I ate more on the detox than I do normally.

I cannot say I will never eat "crap in a box" again.  We all have those days where we just crave something.  I am much more aware of how it affects my mind and my body.  Because I love myself I would rather eat foods that nourish me rather than make me feel sick.

I would recommend "No Crap in a Box" to everyone!
